A CALL TO REPENTANCE

By Dr. Wesley Pinnock Paul writing to his son in the faith Timothy states; “…the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear” (2 Timothy 4:3). I believe we are living in those days now. People today have no interest in the truth. They are much more interested in what makes them feel good and having material possessions. However in the midst of the prosperity and feel good preaching, there is a call by the Holy Spirit to get back to basics, back to the real Gospel of Jesus Christ. One cannot preach the gospel without a call to repentance.

BACK TO BASICS

ON BOARD NAVIGATION

By Doris Eason Recently I was riding with some friends in their nice new vehicle. We were going to an unfamiliar spot and it was evening. Almost immediately I noticed a large screen built into the dashboard, and an automated voice coming from its speaker. This new vehicle had a GPS system designed to map the course from your home base to where ever you need to go. I was fascinated by this technological wonder, and watched closely during the ride to see what it could do. My friend had already plugged in the coordinates so that the GPS knew where we wanted to go, and every few blocks it was giving critical guidance and specific direction to allow us to reach our final destination. As I listened closely, I heard the computer voice say: Turn left or right at the next corner, or proceed to the stop light.

TREASURES OF DARKNESS

Do you realize that there are fellow Christians who are oppressed, ensnared and held captive by Satan? It is obvious the unsaved people walk in darkness because they do not know Jesus, the Light of the World (John 1:4, 5). Either we are unaware, insensitive or ignorant of the plight of those who know the Lord, but have been trapped, deceived and taken captive by the devil at his will (II Tim. 2:26).

“MARY” CHRISTMAS

By Helen L. Green It’s that time of year again, Christmas! With all the holiday preparations… cooking, shopping, decorating, cleaning, family gatherings, wrapping gifts, excessive spending, eating, house guests, holiday programs, etcetera. In Luke 10:38-42, we read how Martha was anxious and frustrated by all the preparations that had to be made when she opened her house to Jesus and his disciples. Martha was distracted with all the planning, cleaning, and cooking while her sister Mary sought to sit at Jesus' feet and listen to what He had to say. Martha became quite upset by this and complained to Jesus that He didn’t care that Mary wasn’t helping her. Jesus replied, “My dear Martha, you are so upset over all these details! There is really only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it and I won't take it away from her."
