It’s that time of year again, Christmas! With all the holiday preparations… cooking, shopping, decorating, cleaning, family gatherings, wrapping gifts, excessive spending, eating, house guests, holiday programs, etcetera.
In Luke 10:38-42, we read how Martha was anxious and frustrated by all the preparations that had to be made when she opened her house to Jesus and his disciples. Martha was distracted with all the planning, cleaning, and cooking while her sister Mary sought to sit at Jesus' feet and listen to what He had to say. Martha became quite upset by this and complained to Jesus that He didn’t care that Mary wasn’t helping her. Jesus replied, “My dear Martha, you are so upset over all these details! There is really only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it and I won't take it away from her."

“As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John
to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed
with a fever and they told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her
hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them”
(Mark 1:29-31).

2 Corinthians 7:10 “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.”
At such a time as this (1 Timothy 3:1-5), there is a dire need for true repentance. The call for repentance is a call for a change of mind towards sin or a turning away from it, but also a turning back to God. The heart of the Heavenly Father delights to dwell mightily in our midst releasing His power and His presence (Acts 3:19). “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy, I dwell in the high and holy place with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite ones” (Isa. 57:15).

2. to move with haste; act quickly:
RACE:
1. a contest of speed, as in running, riding, driving, or sailing.
2. any contest or competition, esp. to achieve superiority

Too many Believers who in an instant of vivid emotion chose to exchange a lifetime of fruitful ministry for a moment of physical pleasure. Clearly, we need a revival of moral purity within the church. This revival must begin with the leadership. The Beatitude is still relevant today: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Purity brings God into focus and provides a basis for our conformity to His moral likeness.
